Using The sound Techniches channel strips gave me an education on impedance. Experimenting with this helped me understand how drastically different mics can sound. In some cases I found this to be just as useful as the eq (Which is also just fabulous). Versatile but intuitive. You can get very old school crunchy sounds as well as clean and modern. Can’t recommend it enough.

With a lot of trepidation I left Abbey Road and it’s REDD and TG desks to go to Trident with it’s Sound Techniques A Range, a completely unknown entity to me. I needn’t have worried. The desk was up with the best, as can be heard on all of the “classic” recordings made utilising this “classic” British mixing console.

Ken Scott - Producer and Engineer - The Beatles, David Bowie, John Lennon, George Harrison, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Procol Harum, Duran Duran, The Jeff Beck, Supertramp.

I have analyzed, repaired, and used many recording consoles over the past 50 years in the recording industry. I must say that the “Sound Techniques” Recording Console. Is one of the best recording consoles I have analyzed, on many levels. They have done a tremendous job matching the sound of the original consoles. Being a technician, I am particularly impressed with the construction of the console. The quality of components are the best on the market today. If one is looking for a vintage sound, I see no reason to buy an old vintage console with all the issues that come with that purchase. A new Sound Techniques console will get you all the benefits of vintage sound with none of the headaches of an old console.

Arthur S. Kelm - CEO Ground One A/V Inc.Record One, The Complex, Skywalker Sound, Capitol Studios, Hollywood GROUND ONE “The Sound of Silence”

“……Instantly brings me back to the sound of early seventies records.  Queen, Bowie, Elton John Cat Stevens…..Absolutely Classic in tone. The clarity and openness of the preamp combined with the ability to push the equalizer without any harsh artifacts is singular in character…..”

Joe Chiccarelli - Ten Time GRAMMY award winning Producer and Engineer The White Stripes, My Morning Jacket, U2, The Strokes, The Killers, Glenn Frey, Jason Mraz.

“The clarity and punch of the preamp is unreal. The equalizer is a classic and completely unique. We loved them!”

Olivier Chastan-Sound City Studios, LA. e

“From the moment I pushed up the faders I was totally happy with the sound, before I even reached for the incredible EQ which just sounded sweeter and sweeter the more I pushed it”

Jason Hiller - Electro Sounds Records

The ZR7064CS is an amazing preamp and EQ that has an immediately recognizable sonic character you may have been missing trying another “A-Range” piece. Snappy snare drums from heaven (I’ve been trying to get THAT top end on a snare forever and this just does it), clarity and weight on about anything you throw at it, and what may likely become your go to vocal recording front end, the new Sound Techniques piece sounds absolutely incredible. Add to that the Z-Match selectors and your sonic Arsenal just got a new best friend. I’ve never heard the detail I’m hearing now from my 60’s STC 4038 or early RCA 44bx with the 60ohm selection. The 47 sounds perfect at 200ohms and Shure Unidyne III’s and the like will love the 1500ohms. Take it from the legends behind Bowie’s Hunky Dory, Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Nick Drake, The Doors, and Led Zeppelin, amongst so many others, and I think you’re gonna fall in love like I have.

Jeremy Ferguson GRAMMY winning Engineer (Cage The Elephant, Lambchop, Eric Slick)

The first time I used the Sound Techniques it was after many years recording drums through our EMI TG. It was like "coming home". The sound was open and wide and everything I'd hoped for.

Richard Flack. Producer/Engineer. (Robbie Williams, Joe Strummer, Florence and The Machine, Tina Turner, James Blunt)
